The snowdrops are blooming after the snow and ice has melted. Snowdrops, crocuses, daffodils, green shoots appearing above the now moist ground. We welcome the sun with the stirring of woodland creatures and winged ones. Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Dark-eyed Junco, and other songbirds gather together at neighboring feeders. Sunrise with clouds radiant in a palette of warm colors and bird songs. This is a time for reflections — writing poems, art making, looking at seed catalogs and planning gardens, a time of noticing, scrying, planning concrete actions for peace.
What needs nourishing now? What needs preparing for the emergence of new shoots, dreams, community connections? Who amidst us is without food, shelter, and hope? How do we care for all creatures and beings around us? How may we honor the radiance of this season and our spirits?
